Credit Card
Comparisons
This section deals with credit card comparisons and the
issues of debt, fraud, offers and balance transfers.
With so much credit
available these days comparing cards can be a bit of a
nightmare. Here is an explanation for some of the types:
Reward cards give points that
can be redeemed against specific purchases such as Air Miles or
cash equivalent points to be used at specified retail outlets.
Cash-back
cards give you money back on your card every time you use
it. Typically cash-back is about 2% of expenditure and will be
awarded annually although you’ll be able to see how much you are
owed on your monthly statements.
Charity Cards where the
charity receives a donation from the actual lending company
behind the credit card for every application for the card they
receive and a small percentage each time you make a purchase.
Balance
Transfers: many credit card companies offer a zero percent
interest on balances that you transfer from another card.
Store cards are the same as
credit cards but generally with a high rate of interest. Frankly
far too high on our view!
